Resumen:
This chapter analyses the restructuring and outsourcing process in the Techint Group factory, Ternium Siderar, which is located in San Nicolás, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, during the periods of the convertibility (1991-2001) and post-convertibility (2002-2017). It presents a case study of a key steelworks in Argentina, which was created by the state during the period of import-substitution industrialisation (ISI) in the 1940s and which is also paradigmatic for understanding the emergence and history of the Metalworkers? Union of Argentina (UOMRA), an organisation that placed metalworkers in leading positions in the General Labour Confederation (CGT) and the Peronist party. The framework used analyses changes in the organisation of work, through mechanisms of intensifying work and outsourcing, as forms of business control that seek to discipline the organisation of the working class.
