Resumen:
The education expansion and the persistent problems in the labour market insertion influence the current debates on young people transitions. Within this framework, this paper aims to analyse the education experiences as well as different situations related to the education-work activities during the first five years after completing compulsory schooling. The analysis provides insights from a study on young graduates from middle schools in the City and Province of Buenos Aires. Two main findings show differences in their selection process of the educational institution where to carry on their higher studies and the various combinations with work experiences, but mainly, the way the economic, social and political context impact on the educational and work trajectories during these first years of their transitions.
