Resumen:
Characterization of newly formed bone tissue around surface modified Zr implants is one way to determine and quantify the bioactive response of these generated surfaces. The objective of the present work is to evaluate if the surface modification treatment, by the anodizing technique, has an effect on histomorphometric bone tissue parameters such as mass of bone or bone density,in an in vivo model. For this purpose, a clustering algorithm was designed for the segmentation of trabecular bone tissue in histological images. The experimentalresults show that anodizing treatment at 30 V produce a significant increase in bone volume. This is evident because the number and thickness of trabeculae increase and the separation between them decreases.
