Resumen:
We study students? conceptions of the number line. Participants attended high school and university. We found six ways of understanding the number line. Considering the problem as alien, as a material artifact (naive realism), or as a graduated ruler. The other conceptions considered the line as a support for numbers, acknowledging it as discrete, dense or continuous.
