Resumen:
The Huachichocana Andesite is a subvolcanic body of Miocene age located in theEastern Cordillera, near the town of Purmamarca. It consists of a rock composed mainlyof phenocrysts of plagioclase, amphibole and biotite and its chemical composition ischaracterized by its very high Sr content. The Huachichocana magmatic event has beenlittle studied, and the main features of the intrusive are unknown. Therefore, this studyprovides in a preliminary way new field and petrographic analyses and mineralchemistry data of one of the most oriental manifestations of Neogene magmatism of thisregion of the Central Andes.
