Pozuelos salar belongs to the geological subprovince of the Puna Austral. Thegeology of the Pozuelos salar is distinguished by the Ordovician age strings that surround it by the West (Pozuelos hill) and by the East (Copalayo hill). The latter is totally hydrothermalized and instructed by a porphyry of Miocene age (Juncal Hill), the hydrothermalisation is the product of the rise of hot springs by the fault plane that puts the Ordovician in contact with the paleogenic rocks and along which they have promoted solutions rich in B, Li, K, Sr, among other elements.
