Resumen:
After learning, memories go through a period of lability, to then stabilize (consolidation). However, once consolidated, they are not static. On the contrary, they can return to a labile state after the presentation of a reminder followed by a period of re-stabilization (reconsolidation). In young adults reconsolidation has been observed for non-declarative and declarative memories. However, no evidence of reconsolidation has been reported for older adults suggesting that this process is diminished in elderly. Here, using a sound-word paradigm we studied reconsolidation in older adults.
