Resumen:
Neoliberal policies in the 1990s brought about significant transformations in the economic models of several countries. In the context of globalisation, the world economy underwent a profound transformation which resulted in the production model and Ford organization erosion and the emergence of, what was later called, "productive restructuring processes". Such dynamics fostered the upcoming of new production and work forms with new features according to each country´s existing structure of the economy and the regulatory framework. In Argentina, globalisation trends were expressed jointly with the implementation of a neoliberal economic model which resulted in, among other things, market deregulation, open trade and a profound productive restructuring and public company privatization process. This chapter will examine and compare the track records of two state-owned companies with divergent ways of dealing with the same privatization context and state adjustment: the shipyard Astillero Río Santiago (ARS) and the oil company Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales (YPF). The analysis will focus on the company dynamics  and its environment at a time of Argentina´s economy structural transformation and on the  actors´ behaviour Firstly, the main theoretical Sociology of Organizations postulates, which guided this analysis, will be stated. Secondly, the main characteristic features of both companies will be described as well as the structural transformations of the Argentine economy during the 1990s. Thirdly, the responses the organizational actors of ARS and YPF developed to face this new context will be analysed in order to present some conclusions regarding the multiplicity of factors involved in the examination of a company and its context.
