Resumen:
The Vaca Muerta Formation and the lower part of the Picún Leufú Formation are represented in the Picún Leufú anticline area by shallow marine and open bay, mixed carbonate-siliciclastic ramp and depositional lobe facies assemblages, developed in two depositional sequences (DS1 and DS2). DS1 exhibits a transgressive succession with shallow marine and open bay facies, and a regressive one with siliciclastic ramp and depositional lobe facies. DS2 shows a lowstand systems tract composed by depositional lobes and a transgressive-regressive sequence represented by mixed ramp facies. The sedimentological and ichnological analysis allow us to recognize: (1) transitional facies at the base of DS1, which is inconsistent with the hypothesis of a catastrophic flooding, and (2) abundance of hyperpycnites (depositional lobes) in the mixed ramp bottomset, during lowstand and highstand systems tracts.
