Resumen:
Altar North is a Cu- (Au) prospect located close to the Altar Cu-(Au) porphyry-type deposit (31º 29?S, 70º 28´ W) in the Main Cordillera of San Juan province, Argentina. The mineralization at Altar North is related to a dacitic porphyritic stock, multiple veins generations and different types of breccias. The study of veins cross cutting relationships allowed to differentiate three pulses of copper mineralization associated with potassic, phyllic and supergenic alteration events. Mineral assemblages of late veins are interpreted as an event of hypogenic copper enrichment in a transitional porphyry to epithermal environment.
