Resumen:
The rapid increase in the number of wind farms negatively impacts the correct estimation of variables gathered by weather radars. Due to their rotation movement, wind turbines generate Doppler distortions in the signal received by the radar. In this article we introduce the framework currently used to model this effect. In order to analyze its impact and characterize its parameters we perform a small scale laboratory experiment simulating the real scenario. We present results for different number of blades, different polarizations, and presence of moving targets. These results match the predictions of the simulations.
