This work deals with the control of a distributedgeneration unit to inject active power and regulate the voltagelevel at his coupling point. The energy source links to thegrid throughout a cascade asymmetric multilevel converter. Thedistributed generation unit with the stated control objectivesresults in a multi-variable system, not only strong coupled butalso variable due to the connection and disconnection of loads. Asimplified mathematical model that captures the main dynamicof the process is obtained. Based on that model, we employedthe model-based predictive control exhibiting good performanceand robustness in face of load changes.
