Resumen:
In this work, the stability of voltage followers implemented with operational amplifiers featuring power supply bootstrapping is analyzed. Power supply bootstrapping allows increasing the input impedance of an amplifier. However, because it constitutes a positive feedback loop, the circuit can become unstable. The model of the bootstrapped amplifier is determined and a compensation strategy is proposed based on the relation between the common mode and power supply rejection ratios of the operational amplifier, which can be consulted for most commercial devices. Finally, the proposed compensation is experimentally tested implementing it for a two-wired active electrode for biopotential measurement applications.
