Resumen:
The recently described cricetid Holochiluslagigliai is a poorly known amphibious rat to this dayrestricted to its type locality in Mendoza Province, Argentina. Here, we provide and discuss several new late Holocenerecords enlarging its past distribution to cover thenorth portion of the province, indicating that this rodentwas widespread in a recent past. We also performeda potential distribution analysis pointing to plausibleareas of occurrence in neighboring provinces. Holochiluslagigliai seems to be a mammal negatively affected by thegrowing pressure of humans on wetlands in the context ofdrylands that characterizes western Argentina.
