Resumen:
Landfillcomposite liner systems are formed by a granular drainage layer (GL), ageomembrane (GM) and a low hydraulic conductivity compacted clay liner (CCL).Behavior of soil-geosynthetic interfaces control the safety against potentialsliding in landfills side slopes. Stability against sliding is influenced bywaste and soil properties, shear strength at the soil ? geosynthetic interfaceand the cells geometry. Safety factor (SF) against sliding can be determined byusing either limit equilibrium analysis or numerical methods. In this research, the stability against sliding of a composite liner system (GM+CCL) of alandfill facility in Córdoba, Argentina, is evaluated by computing the safetyfactor by means of limit equilibrium analysis and implementing Monte Carlosimulations to account for the variability of soils and interfaces shearstrength. A first order second moment reliability analysis was performed inorder to assess the probability of failure of different possible designs. Inaddition, the SF was computed by mean of a finite element analysis fordifferent interfaces properties. Obtained results provide significantinformation related to the relative importance of interface properties on thesafety against slides failures.
