Resumen:
Some authors have suggested that the solution to the current gap existing between neurocognitive and other clinical characteristics of patients with schizophrenia, which makes the whole functionality of it passes through mediating variables taken into consideration related to cognition social (Green et al., 2000; Green & Leitman, 2008; Green & Nuechterlein, 1999). This study analyzed the performance of a task of understanding social norms and solving problems of common sense, the severity of psychotic symptoms and Cognitive Deficits Social (SCD) in 48 patients diagnosed with schizophrenic disorder and 48 healthy controls. The results show a poor performance in the task of understanding of social norms and solving problems, in the group of patients compared to the healthy control group. The analysis of correlations between this performance and moderator variables, shows that years of schooling are positively correlated therewith; while the severity of negative symptoms and particularly the positive symptom of Formal Thought Disorder are negatively correlated with performance on the task. Regarding the SCD only it found that the severity of the lack of prevision, defined as the inability to assess the long-term consequences of the (good or bad) behavior, the difficulty of establishing comprehensive plans; It is associated with low performance on the task. These results may support the hypothesis that deficits in social cognition could be the cause of poor interpersonal relations and global impairment of psychosocial functioning in schizophrenia (Fett et al., 2010).
