Boundaries of labor. Women and extra-domestic spaces of domesticity in times of crisis in Argentina

The aim of this paper is to analyze the production of poor women as social subjects and the strategies of and for women of working or popular sectors.[This work is based on the results of sociological and historical research carried out since 2003, which have continued to date with support from FONCyT and CONICET.] We will center in two very critical moments of Argentinean history characterised by high rates of unemployment, the 30?s and the fall of the fixed exchange rate (1 dollar/1 peso) in early 2000. To address this proposal we will analyze circulating speeches regarding the obligations, responsibilities and rights of poor women in each of these stages. On the other hand, we will take into account their practices, to approach the construction of places of female resistance and the senses of their mobilization.
