Resumen:
Losartan treatment increased the number of capillariesand cardiomyocytes of normal size, reduced interstitial volume andmyocyte-to-capillary distance in LV. Rosuvastatin treatment increased thenumber of capillaries in both ventricles. These findings and inhibition of LVHdevelopment with normalization of basal inotropism and beta adrenergic responseas shown in other presentation in this Congress, point out that Losartan mightbe the most effective antihypertensive of those presently examined. It followsthat activation of angiotensin II receptors might be a key step in LVHdevelopment with decline in beta adrenergic response in hypertension. Thepresence of LVH or cardiac failure was associated with expression ofthioredoxins only in some cases suggesting that oxidative stress may not bedeterminant in LVH development.
