New species of Protoopalina (Opalinida) and first record of Zelleriella hylaxena (Opalinida) in tadpoles of Boana pulchella (Anura, Hylidae) from Argentina

Knowledge of unicellular eukaryotes that inhabit the digestive tract of anuranamphibians in Argentina is scarce and discontinued. In the present work, a new morphospeciesof Protoopalina enterozoic in Boana pulchella tadpoles from Belisario stream, Ventaniahydrographic basin, Buenos Aires province, is described. Its dimensions position Protoopalinanana n. sp. as one of the smallest of the known species to the present. No previous records areknown of Protoopalina in Argentina. The geographic distribution of Zelleriella hylaxena isexpanded and comparative data are provided.
