Resumen:
The fracture and failure behaviour of selfreinforced Polypropylene (PP) composites based on commercial woven and non-woven fabrics was determined under different testing conditions. This behaviour was characterised through quasi-static uniaxial tensile tests, Izod impact experiments and by means of fracture mechanics through quasistatic tensile fracture tests on double deep notched tensile (DDENT) specimens. In addition, the acoustic emission technique was applied in situ in the tensile tests not only to determine the consolidation degree of the different composites but also to identify the failure mechanisms responsible for the materials´ fracture behaviour.
