Resumen:
Magnetic nanowires are very interesting nanomaterials because they are very sensitive elements to small stimuli. We study the use of the magnetic anisotropy of Ni nanowire arrays (NWs) in a nanostructured porous alumina matrix (NPA) to evaluate local temperature induced deformations, taking the NWs as in situ sensors of deformation and structural properties of the matrix. After removing the aluminum substrate, we measured magnetic anisotropy as a function of the sample temperature, by different magnetic characterization techniques. An increase of magnetic anisotropy was observed from 90 to 350 K. This increase is consistent with significant magnetoelastic effects due to the interaction of NWs with the NPA matrix. X-ray diffraction (XRD) results show that, contrary to the case of massive Ni, the NWs suffer a contraction while temperature increases, in agreement with the existence of magnetoelastic effects
