Resumen:
We propose a description of frictionless multiple impact phenomena as a sequence of impact problems in a vanishing time interval. This approach assumes a rigid behavior of the bodies in contact and a local impact model based on the classical Newton impact'law. The impact sequence is defined by a local activation criterion which filters contacts with zero pre-impact velocity. The algorithmis implemented in the framework of the nonsmooth generalized-α time stepping scheme. Several examples such as the Newton's cradle and the billiard break demonstrate that the method significantly extends the range of applications of the local Newton impact law.
