Resumen:
This work presents thermal evaluation under wet storage conditions of spent fuels (SF) of the types UO 2 and (Th,TRU)O 2 discharged from Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR). The studies were performed in the absence of the external cooling system (ECS) of the pool (SFP), and the goal was to compare the water boiling time (T b ) of the pool with these types of SF stored either in a mixed arrange (UO 2 together with (Th,TRU)O 2 ) or only UO 2 .The modelled SFP were based on the real geometrical parameters of the pool of ANGRA II-Brazil. The SF are volumetric heat sources whose intensities are the decay heat values at time t=0 year after reactor discharge. The simulations were implemented in Ansys CFX and OpenFOAM© codes. Tb ranged from 4.8 h to 5.8 h for simulations using Ansys, and 4.2 h to 5.6 h using OpenFOAM©, depending on the kind of SF stored (mixed or only UO 2 ) and the arrangement of SF into the SFP showing good agreement for both codes
