Resumen:
Through Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) using a reflectance technique eleven samples of adhered substances to shaft  stone artifacts were analyzed. These archaeological tools were found in the Quebrada Seca 3 and Peñas de la Cruz 1.1 sites, located in the argentine southern Puna (>3500 m.a.s.l.)., and dated between 7,900-4,500 years 14C BP.                 The results show that the remnants are resins from vegetal origin used as natural adhesives in the shafting process of the analyzed stone tools. The spectral characteristics allow us to discard the use of lacs, glues or gums for that purpose.                 Finally a change in the resin type used after ca.5,500 BP. could be established.
