Resumen:
Lignocellulosic biomass, fruit, and vegetable waste are nowadays being a potential feedstock for biofuels production and compounds with high added-value with applications in food, energy, and materials industries in terms of biorefinery, impacting in the circular bioeconomy. Therefore, in this chapter, an overview of the status of biorefineries development, fractionation of 396biomass using hydrothermal and acid pretreatment, purification of lignocellulosic residual biomass hydrolysates after pretreatment and high added-value compounds as bioplastics, xylooligosaccharides (XOS), xylitol, and enzymes is presented.
