Resumen:
The problem is the degradation of the protective forests and the possibilities of their restoration. The objective is to diagnose the situation of the protective forests of the Piray Miní watershed. The tool of the qualitative interview is used, and the geographical survey is done with the Geographical Information System, and field works. The results confirm the deterioration of the forest; the institutions are willing to cooperate in the design of alternative production models. It is concluded that there is a degradation of the soil protection forests and its restoration is recommended.
