Resumen:
The objective of this study was to evaluate the storage of carbon in the living aboveground biomass of native and implanted forests, and to estimate the average carbon residence time both in the biomass and in the wood products harvested from Pinus taeda plantations. There were significant differences in the carbon storage between native forest and plantations depending on the management applied. The plantations with intermediate thinning were the most appropriate for carbon storage over time, because much of the biomass is destined for sawmill/laminable products that have a long useful life.
