Resumen:
Capsicum flexuosum is a wild chili pepper native to Brazil, Paraguay and NE Argentina. For the first time, a cytological characterization of this taxon was performed by means of Capsicum-derived ribosomal (rDNA) FISH probes. A highly detailed chromosomal map is presented here in that, each chromosome of C. flexuosum can be further recognized via different markers, either morphological and/or related to rDNA. Considering the agronomic and economic importance of the genus Capsicum, this map will assist to the breeding and genetic improvement programs in chili peppers.
