Resumen:
De novo TE library from GCA_905181385.1. This approach identified and further characterized a novel family of the Helitron superfamily of DNA transposons in yerba mate. Consensus sequences of Helitron-2_Ipa were built from genomic copies with both termini and similar lengths, with mean pairwise identity to consensus >85%. Five major subpopulations of Helitron-2_Ipa occur in yerba mate (a to e), all nonautonomous elements with different number of copies and lengths: Helitron-2a_Ipa (8 copies; 2160 bp), Helitron-2b_Ipa (6 copies; 2150 bp), Helitron-2c_Ipa (21 copies; 2098 bp), Helitron-2d_Ipa (7 copies; 1972 bp), and Helitron-2e_Ipa (2 copies; 1353 bp). All AT insertion sites of this Helitron family are embedded in AT rich regions of the yerba mate genome. Sequences with annotated features are deposited at the Repbase Update database (www.girinst.org).
