Resumen:
In this chapter we focus on the elements involved in the process of reproduction of the steel working class in contemporary Argentina. We postulate that, despite the meritocratic managerial discourse, the workers know that the access to the factory depends on educational credentials and personal contacts with factory bosses and union leaders. By analyzing of a field situation, we will show how operate in practice these mechanisms of reproduction. We´ll see how fathers and grandfathers, embedded in factory lineage, mobilizes their social networks in relation to one of the central players in the processes of personal recommendation and how young people consents to adult expectations both academically and attitude to the work.
