Resumen:
In this work, we present some theoretical aspects related to the solutions of the homogeneous torsion problem for arbitrary cross-section beams. Material properties within the cross-section are considered to be dependent on the spatial coordinates, allowing us to extend this approach to composite beams. The resulting pure Neumann boundary value problem (BVP) is formulated in different Sobolev spaces and the trade-offs for each formulation are discussed in some depth. Finally, a series of numerical experiments are conducted in order to evaluate the performance of the theoretical approaches and their numerical implementation as well.
