Resumen:
Micropaleontology, palynology and sedimentology of the Eocene-Miocene from the Aries e-2 well, offshore Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. Samples from the Aries e-2 well (offshore Tierra del Fuego Island) between 260 and 690 m depth, were «alyzed from a multidisciplinary standpoint and assigned to the Eocene-Miocene. Six sections were recognized from kottom to top: Section I (Middle-Late Eocene), contains a rtlevant mature glauconite-rich level (Ib) and rich organic walled microplankton and represents an open marine «ívironment. Section II (Late Eocene-Early Oligocene) is Uiinning upwards, and comprises two sedimentary and: micropaleontological subsections; palynomorphs are scarce. Stction III (Late Oligocene), pelitic, is marine and contains rich protoperidinioid dinocyst assemblages; illite-chlorite increase seems to reflect both tectonic instability and climatic íeterioration. Sections IV, V and VI (Late Oligocene-Early Miocene), show a shallowing upwards trend, evidenced by the number of foraminifers per grame and the associated glauconite-rich levéis. Palynomorphs compare well with the bottom of Chenque Formation for the uppermost 60 m. Section IV has a microfauna similar to that of the lower member of Carmen Silva Fm., which outerops in Tierra del Fuego Island, and section V to the upper member. Three unconformities were recorded. Smectite dominance throughout the sections suggests seasonal températe paleoclimates.
