Resumen:
Currently, use of natural esters (vegetable oil) in transformers is increasing. Its biodegradable characteristics and its high flash point make it a possible substitute for the traditionally used mineral oil. However, its application in power transformers is limited by the low evaluation in service. It is necessary to establish the differences in their performance compared to mineral oils. For mineral oils, there is a large database and knowledge obtained from numerous transformers studied over many years. The limited field data and few experience in service related to the natural ester make the limit values for the properties unreliable. Some papers present the differences between the chemical and physical parameters of mineral oil and natural ester as result of the most common faults in the transformers. Others make this comparison with the generated gases under different faults. This paper aims to collect all the results obtained from DGA in order to contribute to the generation of a database as required by current normative.
