Resumen:
The development of a more sustainable construction industry, from both an economic and environmental point of view, can be oriented towards the use of high resistance concretes or the use of cements with high levels of supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs). In this work, concretes with a content of mineral additions equal to than 50% (fly ash (FA) type F) has been studied. The results show an important improvement of the mechanical strength of the concrete when the FA was used ground in the presence of an alkaline activator. The results of this work show the possibility of obtaining H-25 class concretes with low contents of Portland cement (PC) for structures with low structural compromise. This type of cement with high contents of SCMs (ie, fly ash, slag, natural pozzolans, etc.) and the incorporation of an alkaline activator are called "hybrid alkaline cements".
