Resumen:
The radioluminescence (RL) and optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) properties of undoped and Tm3+ -doped NaMgF3 neighborite have been investigated for the first time in order to determine its possible application in personal dosimetry. NaMgF3 compounds were synthetized by solid state reaction method and by considering a stoichiometric mixture of pure NaF and MgF2 reagents in powder form. The radioluminescence (RL) spectrum shows two emission peaks centered at 460 and 360 nm, which can be ascribed to the 1D2 ? 3F4 and 1D2 ? 3H6 transitions of Tm3+ cations, respectively. The maximum OSL emission was found in samples doped with 0.2 mol % of thulium and under blue light stimulation. The experimental resulted showed that this compound present a good linearity in the dose range from 0.022 up to 100 Gy and a satisfactory repeatability with a percentage standard derivation of 2.2 %. Besides, it was found a fading of the OSL signal of approximately 13% in the first 72 hours and then, the OSL response remains constant. These characteristics, together with a minimum detectable dose of 0.038 Gy suggest the feasibility of using this compound as an OSL dosimeter.
