Resumen:
The fiber optic dosimetry technique (FOD) has become an attractive method for in vivo real time dosimetry in radiotherapy. This technique is based on scintillation materials coupled to the end of an optical fiber, which collects the light emitted by the scintillator during irradiation (radioluminescence, RL), Justus et al. (2004). One of the problems afflicting this technique is the spurious luminescence produced in the fiber optic during irradiation (stem effect). When FOD is used in LINAC´s, stem effect can be removed by temporal discrimination, Clift et al. (2002). This technique can be applied if the decay time of the afterglow from the scintillator is a few ms long.
