In the present contribution we investigate images of CW diusely remitted light registered by a CCD cameraimaging a turbid medium containing an absorbent and uorescent lesion, during illumination by a point-likesource. We show that a normalization technique using local background signals reconstructed from experimentaldata is useful to increase the contrast of both the absorption and the uorescence channel. Using this technique,results on phantoms are given which demonstrate that lesions with clinically-realistic uorophore and absorberconcentrations can be detected. Results are compared with theoretical calculations as well.
