Resumen:
Nanoparticles of NiO and NiO with carbon nanotubes (CNT) were synthesized through a chemical method of sol-gel. Different nanocomposites were prepared by varying the temperature (300 and 500 °C), the solvent (ethanol and ethylene glycol) and the added of carbon nanotubes with and without pretreatment, CNTf and CNTs, respectively. The prepared nanocomposites were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, x-ray diffraction and electrochemical techniques. NiO and NiO-carbon nanotubes composite were evaluated by cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge?discharge measurements in basic medium to test their behaviour in relation to supercapacitors properties. Different sizes of nanoparticles were obtained depending on the CNT added to the synthesis solution. NiO-CNTf nanocomposites displayed improved capacitive properties in KOH solutions, namely 1284 F g-1 at 2,5 A g-1. Also, the specific capacitance was strongly influenced by the temperature and the solvent. These characteristics point to their feasible application as supercapacitors materials.
