Toward this aim, tung oil-based biopolymers wereprepared using different comonomers or adding a modifier. Specifically,synthetic and natural comonomers (styrene, divinylbenzene and a methyl ester oftung oil) and a modifier (acrylated epoxidized soybean oil) were used toprepare different crosslinked samples with afixed weight ratio of tungoil/comonomer (or modifier) = 70/30. The chemical aging suffered by the fattyacid segments of the matrix, which is known as autoxidation of unsaturatedfatty acids in oils and alkyd resins, was followed by Fourier transformedinfrared spectroscopy, dynamic-mechanical analysis, positron annihilationlifetime spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis. As a result, values ofthe glass transition temperature, the storage moduli, tan d and the freenanohole volumes were obtained. To study the influence of the aging process onthe network structures at molecular level, the evolutions of the glass transitiontemperatures, storage moduli, tan d and free nanohole volumes were followed forone year at two different aging conditions: room temperature and 50 °C.
