sequences tabulated at the NIST Atomic Spectroscopy Datab ase. We used a screening
parameter formulati on usin g the Slater integrals arising from the jj- coupling relativistic
expressions for the ma trix el ements. The general conclus ion is that the use of the
screening parameters is very adequate to che ck the consistency of le vel values along their
isoel ectronic sequenc es, more suitabl e than compa rison of Slater integrals or other
criteria, such as the widely used dif ference between theoretical and observed values.
