Mixtures as near-critical solvents

Fatty oil and derivatives are usually extracted with near critical fluids. The use of Propane + Carbon Dioxide mixtures can offer special properties regarding solvent power and selectivity. In the present work the phase equilibrium engineering behaviour of mixtures of Propane + Carbon Dioxide and their transition in phase behaviour type is studied. For this purpose is applied a group contribution thermodynamic model, GCA-EOS, tuned for asymmetric mixtures which present complex multiphase behaviour.
