Resumen:
Large distributed systems (like Grid Computing) aims to manage geographically distributed and heterogeneous computer resources. These resources may belong to different administrative domains, but are shared among users. These systems presents a key component responsible for obtaining, distributing, indexing and archiving information about the configuration and state of services and resources. Optimizing tasks assignations and user requests to resources require the maintenance of up-to-date information about the system. The dynamics of the resource information cannot be captured using a static hierarchy and relying in manual configuration and administration. It is necessary to design and use new policies for discovery and propagation of resource information. P2P paradigm fits in these needs and its incorporation should help to obtain scalable systems. We present some of our results studying the behavior of resource and monitoring information policies in distributed systems, their capacity to scale in different network topologies and sizes. Some initial results are shown regarding to the adoption of P2P paradigm to volunteer computing systems and how it can help to obtain a self-organized system.
