Resumen:
Large distributed systems (like Grid Computing)aim to manage geographically distributed and heterogeneouscomputer resources. These resources may belong to differentadministrative domains, but are shared among users.OurGrid is a prime example of a new generation of volunteercomputing platforms, which supports the execution of bag-of-tasks relying on a P2P collaboration model.Optimizing task assignations and resource requests usinglatency information would improve the capabilites of the system, making it possible to deal with applications whose tasks presentweak dependencies (i.e. tasks that need to communicate but onlyseldom). This new scenario could be enabled by dynamicallyclustering nodes by latency and assigning dependent tasks to thesame cluster. In this work, we show that our proposal could increase theapplication scope currently supported by Volunteer Computingplatforms like OurGrid.
