La identificación de los restos de otáridos en el sitio Puente de Fierro (Holoceno tardío, provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina)

Puente de Fierro archaeological site is located in left side of Sauce Grande river, 7 km away from the current Atlantic coast, in the southwest of the Pampean region (Argentina). Previous works informed of the use of a great diversity of continental especies obtained in the nearby wetland. Also scarce pinnipeds representation was described. The aim of this paper is to present the results of the re-analysis of the assemblage through the application of specific methods for the taxonomic identification of otariids. This analysis led to increase the identified elements of otariids, highlighting the importance of gaining strength in zooarchaeological inferences through the application of accurate methodological frames of reference.
