Resumen:
Regulation of redox homeostasis by Nrf2-ARE was evaluated in liver and brain of Sprague Dawley male rats after 1h, 6h and 16h received acute copper overloads (ip) (dose 5.0; 6.5 and 7.5 mgCu(II)/kg). Histopathological lesions (HL) were classified by the congestion index (CI). Superoxide dismutase activity (SOD1) was measured by spectrophotometric methods, Cu content by atomic absorption, SOD1 content and Nrf2 expression by western blot. Results: HL and CI increased with dose. In the period of 1-6 h and dose 5.0-7.5 mgcu(II)/kg, liver: CI 0-2 with 1.1 to 8.0 µg Cu/g, no changes in SOD1 activity; brain, CI 0-1, Cu: 0.25-0.40µg/g and SOD1 activity decreased 33% (p
