Resumen:
We have previously showed that the lack of Galectin 3 (Gal3KO)reduced the macrophages (MØ) infltration, alters MØ polarizationand fbrosis during the early wound healing after myocardial infarction (MI). Here, we aimed to study the effect of genetic mutation ofGal3 on early and chronic ventricular remodeling (VR) in mice. Adultmale C57 and Gal3KO mice were subjected to permanent coronaryartery ligature or SHAM. After 1 and 4 weeks (w) post-MI echocardiography was performed and ejection fraction (EF %) was calculated. Then, animals were euthanized and the hearts were harvested, snap frozen or fxed in formaldehyde. Infarct size and fbrosiswere quantifed in cardiac slices stained with Masson?s Trichromeand Picrosirius Red from animals of 1w and 4w post-MI. Myocytescross sectional area (MCSA) was also measured in slices stainedwith Rhodamine in 4w animal group. Results: X±SEM; * p
