Resumen:
We previously showed that lack of Galectin 3 (Gal3) reduced themacrophages (MØ) infltration and fbrosis during the early woundhealing after myocardial infarction (MI) leading to adverse cardiacremodeling in mice. However, whether Gal3 alters MØ polarizationand cytokines profle during the evolution of wound healing afterMI has not been previously investigated. Here we aimed to studywhether lack of Gal3 modify the polarization of MØ and changesthe proinflammatory and antiinflammatory expression of cytokinesduring the evolution of wound healing process in mice with MI. Adultmale C57 and Gal3KO mice were subjected to permanent coronaryartery ligature. After 1 and 4 weeks (w) post-MI echocardiographywas performed. LV end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD) was measuredand ejection fraction (EF, %) calculated. Then, animals were euthanized and the hearts from animals of 1w were harvested and store(-80ºC). IL10, TNFα and Mannose receptors (MR) were quantifedby qPCR. At 4w MI size and fbrosis were quantifed in cardiac slices stained with Masson?s Trichrome and Picrosirius Red. Results:X±SEM; * p
