Resumen:
Purpose: To establish if the brain is a target of oxidative damage in a glaucoma model. Methods: Ocular hypertension was induced in Wistar rats (n=12). A sham procedure (n=12) was performed in control. The markers evaluated in brain visual structures at seven days were: thioredoxin reductase (TR), glutathione peroxidase (GPX), superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione reductase (GR), glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD), NADPH oxidase (NAOX), spontaneous chemiluminescence (CL), carbonyl groups (PC), nitrite concentration (NC), glutathione (GSH), ascorbic acid (AA), and vitamin E (VE).
