Resumen:
There is great interest in the determination of the occurrence of oxidative stress experienced by a tissue under a pathologic condition. Several methods have been developed in order to establish the participation of oxidants or the role of antioxidants in a certain pathology. In the present chapter we present a discussion of three different methods that help to evaluate if a given tissue is under an oxidative stress condition. The methodology includes in vivo organ chemiluminescence, hydroperoxide-initiated chemiluminescence and total antioxidant reactive potential (TRAP) of tissue homogenates.
