Resumen:
This paper describes the synthesis and characterization of catalysts with nominal composition Ce1-xFexO2-d (x = 0, 0.5, 0.1, 0.2 and 1). Samples were named 0Fe, 5Fe, 10FE, 20Fe, 100Fe, respectively. Solids were synthesized by the citrate method and characterized in texture, morphology, structure, redox behavior and catalytic performance. It was observed that the addition of Fe into the CeO2 structure improvesthe morphology, thermally stabilizesthe grain size and improves its catalytic properties. X-ray diffraction results showed that iron is incorporated in the crystal structure of CeO2for concentrations up to 10% Fewhile sample 20Fe showed the segregation of hematite (α-Fe2O3). The catalytic tests for total oxidation of methane (CH4) were performed with concentrations of 1, 2 and 4 mol% CH4, 8 mol% oxygen (O2) and nitrogen (N2)balance. The catalyst 10Fewas the one with the best performance with a conversion of ca. 55% at 700 ᵒC.
